Strange as it
may sound, I find it really therapeutic ripping bad paintings off of
their stretcher bars, or gessoing over old paintings on panels. As well
as destroying all the "evidence," it's nice busywork to help clear the
mind and envision the masterpiece that'll be on the new surface.

I
love that moment when you suddenly realize you're in an actual room or
place, because for the last several minutes you thought you were in your
painting.
----------
I
love it when I happen to be near one of my paintings in a display or
show, and overhear someone say what they think the artist could have
done better. Those are the honest critiques,
and the most helpful.

Last
week, my 2 year old asked for one of my paintings on a shelf. When I
handed it to her, she said, "OOOH, PRETTY!" And kissed it right in the
middle. As my friend Holly would say, "Paycheck!"
--------
I love it when I mix a color and it looks the same on my painting as it did on my palette.
