Remnant of Another Era

I love the little things about my hometown that pay tribute to the people who built it. The beautiful designs on lampposts like this one always demands a moment of notice and respect. Although it's covered in corrosion (beautiful in it's own right) it's just one of those things that can't be so easily replaced. It was made in a world that valued quality materials- or maybe only had quality materials to work with. In any case, it was another little reminder to me that it's okay to slow down in my paintings, take time to enjoy and notice the virtues of the setting, and then create something unique in every brush stroke and carefully thought through every step of the way.
